Super Bowl LI: The Gold Jacket Club Experience

Last week we returned from Houston after attending one of the most exciting Super Bowls of all time. The entire trip was phenomenal, but I would be amiss to not highlight a certain aspect: The Gold Jacket Club.

While we include hospitality for all of our events, the Gold Jacket Club certainly stands out as one of the most elite parties we’ve ever thrown. This exclusive hospitality venue was open before and after the game and served a vast array of food, provided ice cold beverages, and featured Pro Football Hall of Famers. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

So you’re probably wondering – what exactly was the experience like? Read below for an insider perspective on the Gold Jacket Club.

Arrival

When you first arrive at the Gold Jacket Club, you’re greeted by longhorns and an armadillo (what a nice Texas greeting, right?) and the pleasant smell of smoke emitted by the meat smokers. Naturally, your mouth starts to water immediately and you can’t wait to get your hands on some BBQ.

With four entrances to the Gold Jacket Club, the entry process is a breeze as HOF Experiences’ staff check and scan your credentials before you enter the Club in all its glory. Before you make your way into the Club, you check your bag and coat so you don’t have to keep up with it throughout the evening – what a nice bonus!

When you walk in, you are met with a warehouse-type feel but it’s nothing short of pure elegance. Black tablecloths cover the square tables, a couple of high top seating options are scattered about, and a few gourmet food buffets and sleek bars fill the room. The lights are dim and the Pro Football Hall of Fame logo illuminates on the walls. The Club also features an outdoor, covered patio with lounge areas, a bar, several high-tops, a charging station and an array of food.

Food & Drinks

It’s not a Super Bowl party without amazing food, and needless to say, it does not disappoint. There’s everything from Mexican food to a meat carving station to churros with sauces. You can stop at the nacho bar, tortilla making station or fajita bar. Grab a few crab claws and shrimp or opt for one of the delicious salads. The options are endless! Plus, Gold Jacket Club staff walk around with appetizers like bacon-wrapped quail. Yum!

But we can’t forget about the bars. Whether you want local beers from around Texas, a glass of wine paired with cheese and grapes, or a shot of tequila, there’s something for everyone. Plus, it’s all open bar.

Entertainment

The food and drinks are just the start of a spectacular evening. Shortly after you arrive, Pro Football Hall of Famers are announced one by one, each with a video highlighting their accomplishments. Each of them then makes their way to their designated podium.

And the good times keep on rolling. Emmitt Smith makes his way to the stage and is joined by Cari Champion, who briefly interviews Emmitt, asking him questions like, “Who do you think will win the Super Bowl?” He picks the Falcons, for the record. The two remain on stage for approximately 10 minutes before Cari notices a kid wearing Emmitt’s jersey, so of course, she brings him up on stage for a photo. His dad then comes up as well and together the dad and son take a selfie with Emmitt. Talk about a memory that lasts a lifetime.

Emmitt and Cari take a brief break from hosting the Gold Jacket Club as you and other fans line up to meet the Hall of Famers, talk with them and get their autographs. A little while later, Emmitt returns to the stage to do a segment with Kevin Greene, Floyd Little and Charles Haley. He asks each of them questions about the two Super Bowl teams such as “Whose coach do you think is better?” and “Whose quarterback do you think is better?”

Meanwhile, a comment is made about Tom Brady being the best quarterback of all time to which Floyd Little replies, “Oh no, no, no – Joe Montana was the best quarterback of all time.” Everyone gets a chuckle out of that one!

End of the Evening

The pregame party begins to wind down and you grab another drink and a little food to hold you throughout the game until you return for the after party. At 4 pm, you head to the stadium for one of the wildest Super Bowls of all time.

After the Game

Following the game, you celebrate the Patriots’ victory (or mourn the Falcons’ loss) and return to the Gold Jacket Club for a 90-minute postgame party. The room is flipped and you’re greeted with a large donut wall (yes, you read that correctly). You head to a food buffet, which features mini grilled cheeses, tater tots, sandwiches, cheese quesadillas and other various snack foods. The bar is once again open and you indulge in a few celebratory drinks before the venue closes at 11. Then, all of a sudden, Evander Holyfield shows up – what a nice surprise! You never know who might appear in the Gold Jacket Club. The night comes to an end, you pack up your things, hop on your bus and head back to your hotel.
